The focus of my thesis is on exploring different ways of coping with feelings of guilt and recovery after different traumatic events. The experience of the traumatic event is so intense, that it undermines different aspects of a person's normal functioning, therefor a person needs appropriate support and help to rebalance and find stability and at the same time a lot of inner strength and will power to recover from a traumatic event and to change the perspective; not to look at the event as the end of life, but as the beginning of a new path. In the empirical part I interviewed two experts, who are dealing with survivors and two women, who survived different traumatic events; intimate partner violence and traffic accident. I found out that coping with guilt is a part of a recovery procedure, which is unique, despite its theoretical stages since it largely depends on a person's individual characteristics, current situation, a sense of security and stability and that these factors could have significantly more impact on recovery than the type of traumatic event.
