The paper concems transport capacity of forest roads and their utilisation level in relation to intensive use of forest roads. The duration and importance of use are· strongly correlated. This correlation weakens with lower intensity of use and greater distance from a junction with a public communication. Therefore, forest roads should differ in the quality of investments, which is reflected in the duration of normal transport capacity, maintenance, technical elements, road signs and road equipment, and limitations to the regime of the use of forest roads.
