Abstract

Title:Thermal inactivation of wood surface
Abstract:
The article describes a phenomenon of wood surface inactivation induced by exposure to high temperatures. The influence of relevant factors on surface properties of wood is explained. Possible physical and chemical mechanisms, which can be involved in the inactivation phenomenon, are discussed. The article elucidates the effect of the thermal inactivation of a wood surface on bonding with water-based adhesives.
