Abstract

Title:Influence of stain properties of cherry wood : graduation thesis - higher professional studies
Abstract:
Decree on emissions of volatile organic compounds from installations that use organic solvents has caused a lot of problems to wood processing and furniture industry. In the future, companies will be forced to comply emissions of volatile organic compounds with the values determined in the Decree. The Stilles Company, which manufactures style furniture and furnish objects by orders, faces the problem of unevenly coloured stained surfaces of cherry wood elements, stained with waterborne stains. In order to find a waterborne stain, which can provide even staining of surfaces, we tested different waterborne stains of various producers. We measured the surface tension of the stains, their density, the dry matter content, absorbtion of the preparations, and visually evaluated the samples of cherry wood stained with the new stains. The sample stained by the Helios formulation No. 5 exhibited the most even colouring of the texture.
