Abstract

Abstract:
Category of interest came into political sciences gradually and occupied one of the main positions in explaining political processes. The article presents the path of the concept into political science and the way it became the main category. The author is especially interested in the relationship between the interest and passion. In contrast to passion, the concept of interest gained its important interpretative role in defining politics as rational, predictable, objective sphere always intruded by the anti-interest passion. Different political philosophies have defined their own concepts of interests and consequently these concepts represent the core of those political philosophies. Liberalism connects the idea of interest to the individual and private property; socialism to the collective - as a rule - class; pluralism to the group; anarchism to the individual, although without property; corporativism to organic understanding of the collective; conservatism to the 'naturally' placed structures, such as the family, religious communities, armyetc.
