Abstract
V diplomski nalogi obravnavamo orodja in satelitske sisteme, namenjene spremljanju temperaturnih anomalij na površju Zemlje. Izbrali smo 5 požarov, na osnovi katerih predstavimo orodje MPEF FIRG (EUMETSAT) in orodje Nase, namenjeno podatkom senzorja MODIS. Predstavimo razlike med obema orodjema, ki imata skupni namen, vendar uporabljata povsem različen satelitski sistem. Rezultatom obeh globalnih orodij dodamo rezultate posameznih detajlnih analiz, izvedenih na osnovi podatkov geostacionarnega satelita MSG1 in MSG2. V nalogi obravnamo požare: Komen (21.7.2006), Dubrovnik (5.-8.8.2007), Tolmin (1.1.2008), Škofja Loka (31.3.2011) in Pivka (13.7.2011).

Title:Detection of forest fires using satellites imagery
Abstract:
In graduation thesis the use of EUMETSAT's MPEF FIRG and NASA's forest fires tool is discussed. Study area are 5 forest fires chosen by their characteristics, this fires are: Komen (21.7.2006), Dubrovnik (5.-8.8.2007), Tolmin (1.1.2008), ŠkofjaLoka (31.3.2011) and Pivka (13.7.2011). Additionally to comparison of EUMETSAT's and NASA's tool, a discussion of thermal channels is made, using MSG1 and MSG2 data. Climate changes poses specific climate, which we aren't used to. Very high temperatures and dry seasons are seen every year, in this specific conditions number of forest fires is increasing. Our main goal is to detect fires as soon as possible. Satellite imagery and specific algorithms are valuable tools in thermal anomaly detection. Satellite fire detection is used from 1980. korišča že od leta 1980.
