Vpliv odprtega dostopa na citiranost znanstvenih objav v gradbeništvu : doktorska disertacija

Abstract
V disertaciji smo proučevali vpliv odprtega dostopa na citiranost znanstvenih člankov na področju gradbeništva. Izvedli smo bibliometrijsko analizo člankov in citatov, rezultate smo preverjali s programom za statistiko Mathematica.V prvem delu raziskave smo proučili vpliv odprtega dostopa na število citatov. Na vzorcu znanstvenih objav raziskovalcev in učiteljev Univerze v Ljubljani, Fakultete za gradbeništvo in geodezijo (UL FGG) v obdobju 2003-2008 smo ugotovili, da raziskovalci UL FGG objavljajo v mednarodnih revijah zgornjih dveh kvartilov, kamor so uvrščene revije z visokimi vrednostmi dejavnika vpliva znotraj posamezne vsebinske skupine seznama mednarodnih revij Journal Citation Report. 19 % objav UL FGG je odprtodostopnih. Vzorec raziskave smo razširili na 2.242 člankov iz 18 mednarodnih revij s področij gradbeništva, razvrščenih v dve skupini, odprtodostopne (OA = 469) in odprto nedostopne članke (NOA = 1.773 člankov). Ugotovili smo, da je odprti dostop eden od mnogih dejavnikov, ki vplivajo na število citatov. Njegov vpliv lahko potrdimo pri člankih, objavljenih v revijah 1. kvartila. Ob njem na število citatov vplivajo tudi število avtorjev, predvsem pri člankih NOA in število različic, preko katerih je članek brezplačno in brez omejitev, izvirajočih iz določil avtorskega prava, v elektronski obliki na voljo uporabnikom preko splošno uporabnega sistema Google Scholar. Proučevali smo tudi časovni odmev, to je obdobje od objave članka v elektronski obliki do njegovega prvega citata v elektronski obliki, merjeno v mesecih, in ugotovili, da so oboji svoje prve citate dosegli že v prvem letu po objavi, vendar so jih članki OA dosegli več. Oboji so svoje največje število citatov dosegli že 3. ali 4. leto po objavi. Najkrajši čas, potreben za prvi citat, je pri člankih OA 5 mesecev, pri člankih NOA pa 13 mesecev. Raziskava na majhnem vzorcu 50 člankov OA razkriva, da arhiviranje člankov v institucionalnih repozitorijih skrajša čas do prvega citata. Skladno z ugotovitvami je bil na UL FGG v letu 2011 zgrajen digitalni repozitorij, v katerem je konec 2013 arhiviranih 2.032 enot, med njimi je 200 znanstvenih člankov.

Title:Impact of open access on citation of scientific publications in civil engineering
Abstract:
In this dissertation the influence of open access (OA) on the citation of scholarly articles in the field of civil engineering was analysed. The research of scholarly publications of scientists and theachers at the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering from the University of Ljubljana determined that many of their articles are published in the upper half of international peer reviewed journals, ranked in appropriate subject group of JCR list. 19 % of them are openly accessible. In the research about the influence of OA on citation 2,242 articles from 18 international peer reviewed journals were analysed, 469 of them are open access (OA) articles, 1,773 are not open accessible (NOA). We can confirm the influence of OA on the number of citations mostly for articles and journals from the first quartille. In all other quartilles the statistical risk exceeds the allowed value of 5 %. We realized that OA is just one of many factors which influence the citation. Other factors are the number of authors, particulary of NOA articles, and the number of variations, in which the articles are acceptable to users for free via Google Scholar, and without restrictions. By researching the echo time, which is the period from publication of articles to the time of its first citation, measured in months, we realised that OA and NOA articles reached the first citations in the first year after publishing, but OA articles reached more of them. Both, OA and NOA articles, reached the highest number of citation in the third or fourth year after publication. The shortest echo time for OA articles is reached at 5 and for NOA articles at 13 months after publication. The research on one sample of 50 OA articles revealed that green OA, which is the archiving of articles in the digital institutional repositories, shortened the echo time. In context with all findings in 2011 the digital repository DRUGG was built at the UL FGG. At the end of 2013 among 2,032 documents 200 scholarly.
