Abstract
V diplomskem delu so uvodno na kratko predstavljene različne tehnologije 3D-tiska, v nadaljevanju pa se delo osredotoči na postopek 3D-tiska s tehnologijo ciljnega nalaganja, vključno s podrobno razloženo pripravo na 3D-tisk s programom za razrez digitalnega 3D-modela na plasti Slic3r (tvorjenje g-kode). Opisana je strojna oprema 3D-tiskalnika s tehnologijo ciljnega nalaganja, našteti so materiali, ki jih danes koristimo pri 3D-tisku s to tehnologijo. Razlaga tehnologije, postopkov, opreme in materialov vodi v prikaz 3D-natisnjenih objektov, ki so bili izdelani za namene diplomske naloge kot prikaz uporabe 3D-tiska v gradbeništvu. Opisane so tudi raziskave, ki so se ukvarjale z ugotavljanjem trdnosti tako proizvedenih objektov. Sledi predstavitev tehnologije Contour Crafting, ki so jo patentirali na University of Southern California, in služi kot tehnologija za izdelavo večjih produktov, kot so stavbe in drugi objekti.

Title:Use of 3D printing in civil engineering
Abstract:
This thesis starts with an introduction of different 3D printing technologies and then focuses mainly on Fused Filament Modeling and Fused Filament Fabrication. The procedure of preparing a 3D model using slicing software Slic3r to create layers from the model is written in detail (generating g-code). Hardware of a 3D printer using Fused Filament Fabrication technology is described, along with materials used for 3D printing with such technology. Explanation of technology, procedures, equipment and materials leads to a demonstration of 3D printed objects, produced for purposes of this thesis to show how the technology may be used in civil engineering. Strength of 3D printed objects is also considered in this thesis. Contour Crafting technology, patented at University of Southern California, is described to show how 3D printing may be used for production of large scale buildings and structures.
