Abstract

Title:BIM use for fire-safety analysis
Abstract:
The graduation thesis shows the possibility of using building information modeling to determine fire safety of a building. First part of the thesis describes fire safety design along with its regulations, safety measures and fire threat. This is followed by a description of building information modeling, a process that has experienced fast growth in recent years. Based on the descriptions a study example was made to connect both fields. A BIM based program (ArchiCAD) was used to show all the basic fire safety measures and the possibility to find out the necessary data for the determination of fire threat level. This BIM model was then used in two specific softwares made to show fire simulation (PyroSim) and evacuation simulation (Pathfinder). On the basis of that pros and cons of using this kind of model in mentioned softwares are described.
