Abstract
Pri 76 prizadetih in 5 zdravih ostrolistnih javorjih (Acer platanoides), ki so rasli ob Vojkovi cesti v Ljubljani (Slovenija), smo izmerili širino branik in analizirali debelinsko rast dreves.

Title:
Increment in thickness in trees from urban environment : visokošolski strokovni študij
Abstract:
In 76 affected and 5 healthy Norway maples (Acer platanoides) growing at Vojkova road in Ljubljana (Slovenia), the growth rings were measured and the growth of trees in thickness analyzed. Based on thickness of growth rings the affected trees were sorted in 5 groups. The group of healthy trees on average has almost 2 times thicker increment (4.76mm) than the affected ones. In 1st group of the affected trees the average thickness of growth rings in17th. Lastgrowth rings of affected trees contained only few cells and were only 20 -50ìm thick. Wood increment was different on opposed radii at majority of investigated trees. Most possible cause for dieback of trees was application of de-icing salts during winter. Analysis of growth by Gompertz function showed that maximum of growth occurred at age 9 - 11 in majority of trees, irrespective of their life duration. Trees in Ljubljana could be preserved if application of de-icing salts would be abandoned or their amount essentially reduced.
