Political trust or trust in political institutions and elites, as a comprehension that our own interests are represented in the political process is crucial for "fragile" postsocialistic systems. One can wonder If the trend of "trust deficit" throughout western Europe could also be applied for young democracies. The connection between trust in political institutions and in political elites in the systems in transition is inevitable, since the political elites personify, through the eyes of the public, political institutions. Until all democratic mechanisms in the system are not fully functioning, the political elites have to create the trust that can be later transferred to institutions. To illustrate some elements of trust in political institutions and elites, authors focused on analyses of trust in political parties, MPs', prime minister and president of the Republic in comparative view in Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary. Gathered data was interpreted in order with political actions at that time and upgraded with conclusions of DEMSTAR research, that enables a unique insight in comparative perspective of political elites in citizen participation and misuse of power in politics in transitional countries.
