Abstract
Prispevek uvodoma pojasni, zakaj je proučevanje znanja sploh potrebno in zakaj tradicionalne statistične informacije o proizvodnji, investicijah, porabi in zaposlovanju vedno slabše pojasnjujejo gibanja v gospodarstvu in družbi.

Abstract:
In introduction, the article elucidates the need for the study of knowledge ingeneral. The reasons why traditional statistical information on production, investment, consumption and employment no longer adequately explain the movements in society and economy are also scrutinized. Different approaches to the structuring of indicator models of "knowledge-based society and economy" are presented. The authors specially lean on the findings of OECD and APEC. Knowledge measurement in society is a very complex but cruicial project. In conclusion, the indicator model is structured and 21 indicatiors of the knowledge society are ranked.
