According to the author the problem of sociology lies in the fact that we construct phenomena in everyday language, which later become the subject of our sociological reflection. Two concepts which are in his opinion crucial for the present analysis are biology and culture, which is why we take it for granted that a split exists between mind and body, nature and nurture, geneticand environmental, natural and social etc. In the article the author strives to surpass the conventional division of scientific disciplines and for a new cognitive science of man embracing both its 'natural' and 'social' aspects.
