Abstract

Abstract:
Some see the crisis of spatial planning as a logical consequence of transitionfrom modernity to posmodern society. In the new conditions, the hierarchic formal systemic social regulation becomes difficult to carry out because of the basic feature of the postmodernity - an individualised plurality, which brings instability and unpredictability. Rigid formal procedures thus hardly reach legitimacy. The debate confirms the ideas that all embracing spatial planning does not have the future and is not feasible. However, this does not mean that spatial planning is not topical and necessary. The author concludes that the spatial planning must open up, it hasto democratise and transform into an open planning. Such 'postmodern' planning is operative and at the same time able to reach legitimacy.
