Abstract

Abstract:
Following the research of a relationship between (a)theism, (ir)religiousness and morality in Post-communist countries, the article investigates differences in social distance to various minorities expressed by a/theists and the ir/religious. As an instruments of measure, a special social distance index is applied. Inter-European comparisons (EVS, 1999-2000) allow identification of characteristic patterns as well as of some peculiarities typical of East European i.e. transitional countries, and particularly Slovenia. It seems that certain expressions of social distance in Slovenia pertain more strongly to the religious factor. In such cases, it seems that (theoretically) "universal" religious values are in practice perceived parochially.
