Thesis discusses the influence of substrate sanding on properties of various surface systems. Some characteristics of acrylic and polyurethane coatings on maple and beech wood are determined. The roughness of wooden surfaces after planning and 2 different ways of sanding was measured, so as thickness of the dried coatings, gloss of coatings and their adhesion. It was found out that the adhesion of coatings enlarged by increasing of surface roughness. By reducing the roughness of wooden surfaces gloss of coatings and film thickness were increased.
