Abstract

Title:Characterization of cutting tool wear
Abstract:
In modern machining processes, we aim to optimize the process in terms of efficiency, operating costs, and environmental impact. Consequently, it is important to select cutting tools with a long tool life. In this final thesis, we developed a program that analyzes laboratory measurements of cutting tool wear and tool life and presents the findings through a web user interface. We found that the emulsions 3610-6%, 3610-10%, and 3618-6% were the most effective at preventing wear. We also demonstrated the decrease in tool life with increasing cutting speed according to Taylor's theory, as well as the increase in Taylor's constant C and the change in Taylor's exponent n with increasing the wear criterion.
