In the article, the shear capacity of the deck of an existing short reinforced-concrete bridge structure composed of T-girders was assessed using several different models. In ensuring the safety of such older bridges, shear capacity is often of key importance, while its determination using existing models is generally more demanding and less reliable than the determination of flexural capacity. For this reason, the shear capacity was evaluated using several different models and the results were compared. The assessment was carried out using the current Eurocode 2 standard (EC2), the new version of Eurocode 2 (EC2*) and the Code for Concrete and Reinforced Concrete (PBAB). The results showed that different models may provide significantly different estimates of shear capacity for the same bridge. In the case considered, both Eurocode approaches, yielded lower shear-capacity values than the PBAB model, which account simultaneously for the contributions of concrete and shear reinforcement in the assessment.
