The master’s thesis Jackie examines the creative process of developing the master’s production, presented as a monodrama based on Jackie by Elfriede Jelinek. The thesis offers both practical and theoretical perspectives on staging a dramatic text. The practical part includes the selection of the source text, the process of shortening it, and the development of the visual aspect of the performance. The theoretical part explores the selected text through the perspective of postdramatic theatre theory and examines its influence on the creative process. Particular attention is given to the influence of postdramatic approaches on acting, especially in relation to a changed understanding of the dramatic character and, consequently, the actor’s position.
Based on my own practical experience and research into postdramatic theatre literature, the process of performing this type of text is theoretically contextualized and reflected upon. The thesis also discusses forms of non-institutional education that have significantly contributed to my development as an actor and, consequently, to the final result of the master’s production.
