Abstract
This study tackles the concept of open public space in the new housing area of Mengeš in a manner that interprets it as a space of a scene. It tries to expose and explain interrelated meanings between the two phenomena through analysis and analogy. In the role of urban designer - creator of the physical aspect of urban space in this study I deal with the dynamics space → user/activity. More precisely, the thesis proves that subtle modifications of urban public space can change it’s nature and affect the user/activities that inhabit it. The main goal is to define the open public space in the new housing area of Mengeš as the place capable to encompass various forms of play-space and to endure all it’s transformations/modifications. The study concludes that analogy open public space = theatrical space is valid and that slight modulations of it’s physical realm can have great effects on the way it’s used, by whom and on the general underlying narratives that take place in it.
