Abstract
The present study was carried out during the 2024 and 2025 seasons on 10-year-old ‘Naomi’ mango cultivar trees grown in an orchard located on Abo Ghaleb Road, Egypt. In this study, we examine the effects of foliar sprays of salicylic acid at (5, 10, and 20 gl-1), potassium silicate at (15, 30, 45 ml l-1), glycine betaine at (7.5, 15 and 30 g l-1) and mono-potassium phosphate at (0.01, 0.02 and 0.04 g l-1) foliar spraying in mid-November, December and January. Leaf area, chlorophyll content (SPAD reading), macro- and micronutrient levels in leaves, yield, and fruit characteristics were used to assess the influence. The results indicated that all spray treatments yielded the best results in terms of leaf area, proline, and leaf chlorophyll content, while improving the yield and quality characteristics of ‘Naomi’ mango fruits compared to the control in both seasons. Glycine betaine (GB) at 15 g l-1, followed by potassium silicate (KS) at 15 ml l-1 outperformed all other spray treatments and recorded the highest values across all studied characteristics. Finally, treatments have increased the trees’ tolerance to frost stress; it is advisable to apply them as an agronomic practice in mango trees grown under frost stress.
