Abstract
This study evaluated SMV infection on physiological and biochemical parameters of soybean cultivars Baraka and Tomaris in Uzbekistan, assessing the antiviral efficacy of biological preparations. Plants were mechanically inoculated with SMV and treated with Bioeffekt and BIOVAK-Y24, alongside with chemical reference Selecton. Virus presence was confirmed via RT-PCR targeting the P1 gene. SMV infection reduced chlorophyll a content by 0.6-0.9 % and total seed protein content by 3.8-4.7 % across both cultivars. In response to viral stress, endogenous peroxidase activity decreased by 9.1 % in ‘Tomaris’ and 20.0 % in ‘Baraka’. However, biological preparations significantly mitigated virus-induced damage and stimulated plant defense. Bioeffekt demonstrated the highest efficacy, boosting chlorophyll a content by up to 24.5 % and enhancing seed protein content by 7.5-18.3 % compared to infected untreated controls. Furthermore, Bioeffekt and BIOVAK-Y24 sharply up-regulated peroxidase activity by 86.4-149.7 % and 52.6-109.8 %, respectively, indicating strong activation of the host antioxidant system and induced systemic resistance. Conversely, Selecton showed limited recovery effects. These findings indicate that Bacillus-based biological preparations represent an environmentally safe, highly effective strategy for managing SMV infection in regional soybean cultivation.
