Sports analytics represents an important field of modern sport, as it enables the systematic collection, processing, and interpretation of data obtained from sports performance. Its development has been closely linked to technological advancements, which have enabled the collection of increasingly large and diverse amounts of data. Due to the complexity of the game, the large number of contributing factors, and the growing amount of available data, football has become one of the most important areas for the application of modern analytical approaches. Analytics has therefore evolved from basic event recording and the description of statistical data to the use of advanced statistical methods supported by artificial intelligence. Methods: A descriptive research method was used, based on a review of scientific and professional literature and a systematic examination of the development of analytics and various analytical approaches throughout the history of football. Results: The findings indicate that modern football analytics enables a more detailed examination of the tactical, technical, and physical aspects of the game and provides important support for scouting, player evaluation, match preparation, physical preparation, and decision-making within clubs. The development of artificial intelligence additionally enables the processing of complex datasets and the identification of patterns that are more difficult to detect using traditional approaches. At the same time, the analysis highlighted the importance of appropriate data interpretation, data quality, and the integration of professional expertise. Conclusion: Sports analytics represents an important factor in the development of modern football; however, it cannot fully replace human judgement. Future development is expected to be based on the integration of artificial intelligence, advanced data-driven approaches, and human expertise.
