Abstract

Title:In the shadow of the screen : the relationship between excessive internet use, goal setting, and perseverance in adolescents
Abstract:
In the master's thesis, we wanted to determine the connection between excessive use of the Internet, goal setting and persistence in adolescents. On the basis of the research, which we carried out with the help of a survey questionnaire, we found that excessive use of the Internet is not affected by the size of the city from which the respondents come, and that the Internet is more often used excessively by individuals with poor academic performance, with fewer siblings, those who do not have other extracurricular activities, and individuals who do not have established rules regarding the use of the Internet in their home environment. Furthermore, we found that there are no statistically significant differences in the assessment of the importance of setting long-term goals between those who use the Internet less than 2 hours a day and those who use the Internet more than 2 hours a day, and that there are no significant differences between the amount of use of the Internet for fun and the overall assessment of the individual regarding setting and achieving personal goals, persistence in achieving goals, and focus on personal progress.
