Abstract
Obravnavam, kako ilustracija v tesni povezavi z mehanikami in pravili igre soustvarja zgodbo skozi igralčevo interpretacijo.

Title:Illustration and Storytelling in Board Games
Abstract:
In this master's thesis, I explore the role of illustration in shaping the narrative in board games. The thesis focuses on the ways in which individual illustrations, distributed across the player's play area, and the relationships between them contribute to the creation of a story that gradually develops throughout gameplay. The theoretical part examines the fields of illustration, narrative, and board game design, and explores their interconnections. It examines how illustration, in close connection with the game's mechanics and rules, co-creates the story through the player's interpretation. The discussion is supported by an analysis of existing board games that use illustration as a primary element of narrative. The practical part consists of the development and design of a prototype of an original board game based on a series of illustrated individual events, which players connect into a broader narrative during gameplay. The aim is to further develop illustration skills in the field of board game design and visual narrative creation, while also exploring how illustration guides the understanding of the story and encourages the creation of different interpretations.
