Abstract
V praktičnem delu naloga obravnava nastanek stop-motion animacije, v kateri osrednji lik oblikuje glino, dokler material postopoma ne preseže njegovega nadzora, zapolni prostor in ga absorbira.

Title:Liminality in animation
Abstract:
The master’s thesis examines liminality in animation, with an emphasis on stop motion technique, materiality, and the process of bringing inanimate objects to life. The theoretical part explores animation as a medium that operates in the space between the static image and perceived movement, between the animate and the inanimate, and between the material and the imaginary. Liminality is presented as a state of transition, instability, and transformation, which in animation is established not only on the level of content, but also through the process of animation itself. The practical part of the thesis discusses the creation of a stop motion animation in which the central character shapes clay until the material gradually exceeds their control, fills the space, and absorbs them. Through the transformation of material, space, and character, the animation explores the relationship between creation and decay, control and the loss of control, and subject and object. The thesis therefore demonstrates that animation can not only represent liminality, but can also actively establish it through its technique, materiality, and creative process.
