This thesis presents the application of photogrammetry and geographic information systems (GIS) in documenting archaeological remains. Possibilities and limitations of these procedures are presented in the case of documenting the part of a fortification wall at the archaeological site Volčji potok – Stari grad. Field work encompassed photogrammetric survey of the structure and determining control and check points with RTK GNSS. Based on the captured data a georeferenced 3D model, orthomosaic and digital elevation model were made, which were then used for spatial measurements and the creation of profiles in GIS. The accuracy of georeferencing was evaluated with errors of control and check points, of which the results reach centimetre-range accuracy. On this particular example the thesis showcases, that the combination of photogrammetry and GIS allows for a detailed spatial documentation of archaeological structures and subsequent measurements and analysis. Furthermore, it brings light to the effects of the quality of photographic capture, brightness and georeferencing on the quality of final results.
