Človek in žival: V bitki s časom

V magistrski nalogi bom predstavila opus 4 del, ki se v obliki instalacij navezujejo na različna področja iste problematike. Ta naslavlja globalni problem morja in izhaja iz raziskave o plastiki, ki ga onesnažuje ter s tem ogroža njegove prebivalce. V magistrski nalogi sem na kratko opisala temo ogrožanja živali s posegom človeka v morje in druge problematike, ki se nanjo navezujejo. Raziskovala sem tudi, kako se morski organizmi razvijajo in spreminjajo skupaj s sedanjim časom. Raziskala sem, zakaj je določena vrsta organizma oziroma živali ogrožena ter postavila ta problem v ospredje, da se lahko soočimo z njim. To sem povezala z nastankom morja, morskih živali, ogroženosti in nastajanja problema ter poiskala povezavo med njimi. Temo morja sem si izbrala iz več razlogov. Morje predstavlja 70 % našega sveta, vendar ostaja kar 80 % svetovnih oceanov neraziskanih in nepopisanih s sodobno tehnologijo. Velik del neraziskanosti je posledica težav z dostopom kot so pomanjkanje svetlobe v globinah morja, visoki pritiski in oddaljenost od površja. Vedno znova odkrivamo nova območja in z njimi nova bitja, ki jih še ne poznamo.

• Title: Human and Animal: In a Race Against Time

Abstract

In my master’s thesis, I will present a body of four works in the form of installations that relate to different aspects of the same issue. The works address the global problem of the sea and are based on research into the plastic pollution that contaminates it and thereby threatens its inhabitants. In the thesis, I briefly described the issue of animals being endangered by human intervention in the sea, as well as other related problems connected to it. I explored how marine organisms develop and change alongside the contemporary world. I investigated why certain species of organisms or animals are endangered and brought this issue to the forefront so that we may confront it. I connected this with the origin of the sea, marine animals, endangerment, and the emergence of these problems, while seeking links between them. I chose the theme of the sea for several reasons. The sea represents 70 % of our world, yet as much as 80 % of the world’s oceans remain unexplored and undocumented by modern technology. A large part of this lack of exploration is due to difficulties of access, such as the absence of light in the ocean depths, extreme pressure, and the distance from the surface. We continuously discover new areas and with them new creatures that are still unknown to us.
