Abstract
Obravnavana so dela skladateljev Igorja Stravinskega, Béle Bartóka, Edgarda Varèseja, Karlheinza Stockhausna, Vinka Globokarja, Iannisa Xenakisa in Žige Petriča.

Title:Multiple Percussion Over Time
Abstract:
This master`s thesis explores the development of multi.percussion setup over time, focusing on the historical cirmustances that contributed to its emergence and on changes in instrumentation, notation and performance practices. The historical overview of the development examines the influence of Janissary music on the expansion of percussion instruments in the European musical tradition, the development of orchestral percussion in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and the emergence of the drum set in early jazz which significantly contributed to the development of multi-percussion performance. Particular attention is given to the analysis of selected musical works tha represent the chamber, ensemble and solo repertoire for multi-percussion. The aim of this thesis is to present the development of multi-percussion from its begginings to its contemporary form. The first part of the thesis outlines the historical development of percussion instruments and their gradual transformation from supportive orchestral instruments to an autonomous artistic medium. The second part of the thesis is based on a historical-analytical approach and includes analyses of selected musical works. The study examines works by Igor Stravinsky, Béla Bartók, Edgard Varèse, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Vinko Globokar, Iannis Xenakis and Žiga Petrič. The analyses focus on the instrumentation and arrangement of multi-percussion setups, the development of notational approaches, and the performance demands of individual works. Today multi-percussion is an important part of contemporary percussion literature and performance practice. This thesis contributes to a better understanding of the development of multi-percussion and represents one of the few comprehensive studies of this topic in the Slovenian space.
