We evaluated the impact of vertical refraction under specific local conditions. Measurements to determine the refraction coefficient were carried out on a leveled baseline established between the benchmarks of a leveling line running from Zgornje Jezersko to the Jezersko border crossing. The measurements and calculations were structured to yield the variation of the refraction coefficient as a function of the time of day. The leveled height difference between the points was compared with the height difference calculated based on measured zenith distances and reduced distances. The latter was computed in two ways: by considering the generally accepted standard value of the refraction coefficient, and by incorporating the value calculated directly from our own measurements. By analyzing the trends in value variations throughout the day, we confirmed pronounced discrepancies between the two approaches.
