Introduction: relationships between members of the healthcare team have a significant
impact on its functioning and can also affect the quality and safety of healthcare provision.
Mutual trust, respect, communication, team cooperation and psychological safety play an
important role in this. Purpose: the purpose of this thesis was to determine how relationships
within the healthcare team affect the delivery of nursing care and to identify factors that
influence the quality of relationships within the healthcare team. Methods: a review of
domestic and foreign professional literature was conducted. Descriptive, analytical and
literature review methods were used. The literature covered the time frame from 2016 to
2026 and was found in the databases PubMed, CINAHL, MEDLINE, ERIC, SocINDEX,
Cochrane, EBSCO and Google Scholar. Results: the findings show that quality relationships
in the healthcare team are associated with more effective teamwork, better communication,
mutual support and greater psychological safety. Good climate in the healthcare team is
associated with greater employee satisfaction and higher perceived quality of healthcare
provision. Team relationships are also significantly influenced by organizational factors,
especially the appropriate number of staff, workload, work organization, opportunities for
advancement and employee involvement in decision making. Discussion and conclusion:
relationships in the healthcare team are an important factor in giving effective and high
quality nursing care, but their influence almost cannot be considered separately from other
factors in the work environment. Good relationships enable more effective cooperation, open
communication, mutual support and a greater willingness to bring up problems and solve
them together. In order to ensure quality and safe nursing care, it is therefore important to
create a working environment that promotes trust, respect, good communication and
psychological safety, as well as adequate organizational working conditions.
