The main goal of this thesis is to research the market and analyse the impact of implementing
various energy storage systems in an industrial consumer. The thesis will initially focus on
describing different energy storage systems and their properties. Their efficiency and usability
will be compared throughout the thesis. The thesis will also describe various concepts, such as
'peak shaving', presenting the new tariff system and its impact on the use of energy storage
systems. The thesis will be divided into two parts: theoretical and practical, where it will present
the potential use of different types of energy storage systems in an actual real life industrial
facility (Papirnica Vevče) and calculate the cost and return on investment for each type of
storage system. Using data of the electrical consumption and production of the industrial plant,
the thesis will form an operating diagram for the plant, and based on those characteristics, the
most cost-effective one will be selected. The essence of the thesis is to propose the best solution
for the selection of an energy storage system type for the industrial plant, based on their actual
electricity consumption over the course of one calendar year, through market research and
appropriate calculations. The final calculations will demonstrate compatibility, price
comparison, and efficiency with specific industrial facilities. They will be designed in a way
that makes them applicable to most industrial plants, with simple modifications of input data.
