The bachelor’s thesis examines the market for silk and silk products at the global level, in the European Union, and in Slovenia. The analysis is based on secondary data from scientific, statistical, institutional, and market sources, with raw silk production, trade flows, and market trends analysed separately. The results show that, after a significant decline following 2015, global silk production increased slightly between 2022 and 2024, from 91,221 to 97,351 tonnes. In 2024, the two largest producers were China with 50,500 tonnes and India with 41,121 tonnes. At the same time, the value of global trade under HS Chapter 50 decreased from USD 1.78 billion in 2023 to USD 1.62 billion in 2024. The European Union mainly acts as an importer and processor of silk, with Italy standing out as an important centre of processing and trade. The analysis of the Slovenian market shows that Slovenia does not have commercially significant raw silk production and represents a small, predominantly import-oriented market. Slove-nia’s development opportunities therefore lie mainly in smaller, specialised, and susta-inability-oriented segments with higher added value.
