The aim of this thesis is, for the selected case study, to analyse past cadastral procedures and to establish the significance of archival cadastral data for parcel boundary determination in a contemporary cadastral procedure. In order to present the role and usability of archival material in more detail, an analysis of the development of cadastral legislation across five historical periods was carried out, together with a case study of seven interconnected cadastral reports from the cadastral municipality of Velike Lipljene, created between 1912 and 2022. The results of the analysis show that the usability of archival elaborate data for determining the proposed boundary depends primarily on their measurement quality, content quality and the legal status of the recorded boundary, rather than on the age of the elaborate. Of particular significance is the finding that even century-old measurement data was successfully used as a direct basis for determining the proposed boundary in contemporary procedures, if they were documented properly. Systematic and critical consideration of archival material could contribute to a more reliable and legally secure determination of parcel boundaries, provided that the professional judgement of the authorised geodesist is consistently documented in the process.
