The master's thesis addresses the planning of viticultural areas within the municipal spatial acts of 27 municipalities in the Slovenske gorice region, aiming to formulate spatial guidelines for their long-term sustainable preservation and development. The work encompasses a review of legislation, a keyword stem-based analysis of 301 articles in valid municipal spatial plans (OPN) and municipal detailed spatial plans (OPPN), as well as a spatial-statistical analysis of designated land use, actual land use, and permanently protected agricultural land (TVKZ) in a GIS environment. A semi-structured interview was also conducted with spatial planners at a selected joint municipal administration of municipalities in the Slovenske gorice region, alongside field verification of conditions on the ground. The results indicate pronounced inconsistency among the OPNs of the analyzed municipalities and a substantive duality between their strategic and implementation parts. We found out that despite the formal planning protection of agricultural land, the area of vineyards decreased by 36.69% between 2002 and 2026, confirming that the current, relatively passive protection of viticultural areas cannot halt the abandonment of vineyard cultivation driven by demographic and economic factors. The detailed land use category Av proved to be the most effective instrument against dispersed and unplanned urbanization. Based on the key findings, guidelines for future spatial planning are formulated across three levels: terminological, structural, and operational.
