Abstract

Title:Simulation of turbulent coolant flow in the downcomer of the PWR reactor core using hybrid RANS-LES approach
Abstract:
The objective of this work is the numerical simulation and analysis of the turbulent coolant flow in the downcomer of the Krško Nuclear Power Plant. The coolant enters the downcomer through two separate inlets; therefore, the study addresses both symmetric and slightly asymmetric flow operating conditions. Part of the focus will be dedicated to analyzing the flow in the region of the safety injection pipe, where existing temperature measurements suggest the potential occurrence of unstable flow fluctuations. The purpose of the analysis is to investigate the local flow hydrodynamics in this area and to identify potential characteristic flow structures that could be linked to the observed fluctuations.
