The modern individual is caught in an inseparable connection between the physical and digital worlds, meaning a phenomenon that threatens human well-being and quality of life due to information overload and the expectation of constant availability. The search for an effective method to separate these experiences is made very difficult by the widespread social acceptance of technology and an individual’s susceptibility to digital addiction. Consequently, conscious living in physical reality becomes a neglected luxury, while digital life becomes the norm.
Through an analysis of the human relationship with the digital world, this thesis presents an exploration of ways of building a conscious attention to the digital world, with the results communicated to individuals through the field of graphic design in a publication, named Locked to the Link.
