In my thesis, I explore the development, content and design characteristics of cookbooks and their role in today’s digitally oriented environment. The theoretical part presents the evolution of cookbooks from the earliest written recipes to contemporary printed publications, the changing structure of recipes over time, and the role of illustration as an integral element of cookbook design. The practical part presents the design of my original personalised cookbook titled Always Hungry, Sometimes Cooking (Slov. Vedno lačna, včasih kuham), which combines recipes from different periods of my life, accompanied by personal stories and illustrations.
The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to design a publication tailored to Generation Z that can be read not only as a collection of recipes but also as reading material for »entertainment beyond the digital«, thereby demonstrating that a thoughtfully designed printed publication, adapted to the needs and aesthetic preferences of its intended target audience, can represent a relevant, attractive, and functional medium even in an era dominated by digital technology.
