This BA thesis explores the improvement of the user experience when selecting and purchasing ski boots. The research and analytical phase examines the construction and fit of ski boots, the current purchasing process, existing measurement solutions, and the needs of users and other key stakeholders. Based on the findings, design guidelines were established for the development of a system aimed at simplifying the selection process and reducing the number of boots that need to be tried on.
The final solution combines a foldable measurement device with a digital recommendation system. The device captures data on the shape of the lower part of the legs together with additional measurements relevant to fit, while the digital interface connects these data with information about the user and guides them towards the most suitable ski boot models. During the development process, the folding principle of the device and the mechanism for fixing the structure in position were also tested using physical prototypes. The proposed solution serves as a basis for further development and testing in a real retail environment.
