Abstract

Title:Analysis of Muscle Activation During Repeated Sit-to-Stand Movements
Abstract:
The study focuses on muscle activation during repeated sit-to-stand and stand-to-sit movements. Surface electromyography was used to measure the activation of six lower-limb and trunk muscles in three participants, while one participant additionally underwent kinematic analysis. Amplitude, temporal, and spatial analyses were used to evaluate muscle activation during both movements. In participant P1, the back extensor muscles showed markedly higher relative activation during sit-to-stand than the other analysed muscles, while activation of the rectus femoris varied along the length of the muscle. Muscle synergy analysis in participant P1 identified two synergies during sit-to-stand and three during stand-to-sit. Kinematic analysis in participant P2 showed that muscle activity was highest in the initial phase of sit-to-stand and predominantly in the middle phase of stand-to-sit.
