The diploma project discusses the future of electric trucks and their role in road freight transport. The topic is important due to increasing environmental requirements, the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the search for more sustainable solutions in logistics. The purpose of the project is to examine whether electric trucks can become a realistic alternative to diesel trucks in the future.
The main objective of the project is to analyse the economic, technical, environmental and infrastructural aspects of electric truck use. The basic research assumption is that electric trucks represent an important direction in the development of freight transport, but they are currently not yet an equivalent replacement for diesel trucks in all transport segments. The project uses the descriptive method, compilation method, comparative method, method of analysis and method of synthesis.
The findings show that electric trucks have the greatest potential in urban and regional distribution, where routes are shorter, more predictable and charging can be planned more easily. Their main advantages are lower direct emissions, quieter operation and the possibility of lower operating costs. However, their wider use is still limited by high purchase prices, limited driving range, longer charging times and insufficient charging infrastructure. The research confirms that electric trucks will become an important part of sustainable logistics, but their broader implementation will depend on battery development, infrastructure expansion and cost reduction.
