Abstract

Title:Development of a Conditioning Process for a Polymeric Component
Abstract:
Conditioning of polymeric components is essential for ensuring the required moisture content and dimensional stability at the time of delivery to the customer. The research was conducted on the BR223 gear manufactured from PA6 GF30 polyamide. The experimental work included a comparison of natural and accelerated conditioning in a climatic chamber, an analysis of the effects of conditioning time, temperature, and relative humidity, as well as an evaluation of the influence of component position and orientation during conditioning. Moisture content was determined using the Karl Fischer method, while dimensional changes were evaluated by coordinate measurements. The results showed that a conditioning program at 80 °C and 90% relative humidity for 8 hours ensures the required moisture content after stabilization of the components. The position and orientation of the specimens had no significant effect on the uniformity of conditioning. Conditioning improved the dimensional conformity of the components, with all evaluated characteristics remaining within the specified tolerances after conditioning. The developed conditioning procedure provides a suitable basis for the industrial application of polymeric component conditioning.
