The diploma thesis Designing the Collection Interweave combines and explores the connection between art, sport, and contemporary fashion through the development of fashion collection. The starting point of the research is the interpretation of the artwork School of Love by artist Jesse Mocrkin, which led to the combination of elements of sportswear and drapery.
The theoretical part examines the work and artistic practice of Jesse Mocrkin, as well as the development of sports fashion throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. It mainly focuses on the transformation of sportswear from its early forms to more functional garment. Special emphasis is placed on the exploration of sportswear within everyday and luxury fashion through the development of athleisure aesthetics, the connection between sportswear and luxury fashion, and project Moncler Genius, which represents a contemporary approach to fashion collaborations.
The experimental part includes the development and creation of an original fashion collection that intertwines draped forms with functional elements of sportswear. The collection is based on observing the movement of material during physical activity and exploring layering, folding, and intertwining. The result of the diploma thesis is a contemporary fashion collection that combines artistic interpretation the functionality of sportswear, and the aesthetic of drapery with elements of contemporary design.
