The diploma thesis addresses the process of designing and creating an interactive children's picture book, which combines literary text, illustrations, and various interactive activities for readers. The aim of the thesis was to produce a unique, personalised, and interactive book specifically for children and to present the final product. The entire planning and production process included an in-depth exploration of various artistic techniques used in creating the final result.
The task was divided into theoretical and experimental parts. In the theoretical part, we described the key factors and artistic procedures that effectively engage the target audience. We researched which publishing houses in Slovenia specialise in children's books. In the second section of the theoretical part, we focused on the design itself, exploring different styles of illustration and typography most suitable for children's books. We brought these elements together in the third chapter, where we began placing graphic elements in the book design. In the final chapter, we examined the types of paper most suitable for book production.
The experimental part of the thesis focuses on practical implementation. The process of creating the picture book is presented, including the preparation of literary text in the form of six stories, the planning and execution of illustrations, the design of interactive tasks, and the overall book design. Detailed work procedures, both within and outside the software, are described and accompanied by visual material.
The result of the diploma thesis is a unique interactive book for children, which serves not only as an entertaining and educational tool, but also as a document and a memory of children's creativity and imagination.
