Abstract
Magistrsko delo obravnava knjigo Liber Abaci italijanskega matematika Leonarda Pisana, bolj znanega pod imenom Fibonacci. Sledi opis življenja in dela Fibonaccija. V drugem delu so podane informacije o Liber Abaci, njenih rokopisih in prevodih. Rešitve aritmetičnih nalog so v Liber Abaci podane obširno, brez uporabe matematičnih znakov in simbolov, saj niso bili v uporabi.

Title:Liber Abaci: structure of the work and solutions to selected mathematical problems
Abstract:
The master’s thesis examines the book Liber Abaci by the Italian mathematician Leonardo of Pisa, better known as Fibonacci. It contains numerous mathematical problems, the most important of which concern trade, money and everyday challenges. The first part presents the historical background of the Middle Ages in Europe, with a focus on the 12th and 13th century. The 12th century is considered through contemporary mathematicians and the Hindu-Arabic numeral system. This is followed by a description of the life and work of Fibonacci. In the second part, information about Liber Abaci, its manuscripts and its translations is presented. This is followed by a review of the entire book, with a description of the content chapter by chapter. In this context, various mathematical procedures and methods are outlined, together with an explanation of the notation used in the book. The third part presents selected arithmetic problems from the book together with their solutions, written in modern mathematical notation. The solutions to the arithmetic problems in Liber Abaci are given in detail, without mathematical signs and symbols, as these were not in use when the book was written. In some problems, the solution process is also presented, as described in the book, so that the reader gains a clearer insight into arithmetic both in the past and today, as well as into its notation. The purpose of the research is to present the content of Liber Abaci within its historical and mathematical context.
