Bluetooth Channel Sounding (CS) is a feature introduced by the Bluetooth
SIG in Core Specification 6.0 as a more accurate alternative to receivedsignal-strength-based ranging. For battery-powered devices, however, ranging accuracy alone is not sufficient – power consumption matters as well. In
this thesis, we extended Nordic Semiconductor’s reference firmware for the
nRF54L15 Tag platform so that the initiator supports a simultaneous connection to two reflectors and configurable use of one or two antennas. Using this
system, we experimentally measured ranging accuracy and initiator power
consumption for different antenna-path and transmit-power configurations.
The measurements showed that additional antenna paths consistently improved accuracy while also increasing power consumption, whereas the effect
of transmit power on accuracy was not conclusive; measurements with two
simultaneously connected reflectors likewise showed no clear degradation in
accuracy despite the higher power consumption.
