Permission migration between different platforms is a challenging process
because permission models often differ between systems. This thesis focuses on
user permission migration from Jira Data Center to a target platform, which
in this case is DevRev. The proposed solution encompasses the analysis of the
source and target permission models, the extraction of user permissions from
Jira Data Center, and the transformation of the extracted data into a form
supported by the target platform. The implemented solution supports selected
project permissions and the relevant permission holder types in Jira Data
Center: users, groups, project roles, application roles, and the projectLead
holder type. The correctness of the solution was verified with unit tests,
end-to-end tests, and a project-specific regression script. The solution is
limited to project permissions and to the extraction and transformation parts
of the wider ETL process.
