Four copper(II) compounds with the 4-aminobenzoic acid anion (L–) were synthesized
from aqueous solutions. These are CuL2 1, Cu(L)2(nia)2 2, Cu(L)2(3OHpy)2 3 and
Cu(L)2(2apy)2 4; nia - nicotinamide, 3OHpy - 3-hydroxypyridine and 2apy - 2-aminopyridine. No such or similar compounds were found in the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD). The reproducibility of the syntheses, powder diffractograms, and IR spectra shows purity of the isolated compounds. With the measured mass fractions of the CHN analysis, their expected formulas based on the theoretical values were determined. The IR spectra are in accordance with a presence of the applied pyridine ligands as well as the principal anion L characteristic bonds. The electronic spectra of 1-4 do not differ significantly. This is in agreement with similar complementary color and the proposed similar coordination sphere of the isolated compounds' structures.
