Abstract

Title:Comparison of renewable methanol production technologies for energy storage
Abstract:
This thesis addresses the problem of storing surplus renewable energy using renewable methanol as a liquid energy carrier. The methodology is based on a literature review and comparison of three process pathways: biomethanol from biomass, biomethanol from biogas or biomethane, and e-methanol from green hydrogen and CO₂. The results show that the pathways differ mainly in feedstock preparation, energy requirements and technological limitations. The most suitable pathway depends on local resources and the intended use.

Keywords:renewable methanol, biomethanol, e-methanol, energy storage, production technologies
