In the diploma thesis, we investigated the supply air heating in the ventilation of a sports hall and performed a comparison of three heating systems from an energy and economic perspective. The multi-purpose sports hall of the Krško Secondary School was considered as the reference building. Using a computer program, we calculated the annual heat demand for supply air heating, whereby the program takes into account the hourly variation of outdoor temperature and the operating schedule of the ventilation system. The comparison included an air–to–water heat pump, a gas boiler and a cascade connection of three electric boilers. The systems were compared in terms of annual energy consumption, annual operating costs and investment costs, while the total costs over a 15-year period and the investment payback period were also calculated. The results of the comparison have shown that the air–to–water heat pump system, despite the highest initial investment cost, represents the most economical long-term solution for the reference building.
